Nothing Edible This Week.

So, I've been laid up since April 6, recovering from surgery. It's a pure "BRAT" diet for me these days (banana, rice, apple sauce, and tea) while my body shrugs off the effects of anesthesia, pain, nausea, and basically lying inert for six days. I'm as weak as a newborn calf. Yuck. Needless to say, unless I want to review the Mott's I had for lunch, there's not much to talk about.

In preparation for the hospital stay, Hubby and I did enjoy a Lost Weekend of sorts - dining at The Upstairs, Zocalo, and Thai '99 #2. I knew I'd be sipping chicken broth for a while and so stuffed my gob with Thai, steak, and Bloody Mary's. Reviews of all these adventures will be up soon. Right now I can barely sit up for more than 20 minutes, much less blog! But I took good notes, so all is well. More reviews. Up soon.

In the meantime, Heartland Harvest Farm will be making deliveries to Charlottesville on Tuesday 4/21 from 2:30pm-4pm. Dropoff is at the Classic Furniture store up Route 29N, across from Toys 'R Us near Whole Foods. Below is a list of what they have available. All Heartland Harvest Farm products have been raised with biologically friendly methods. In other words, no drugs or growth hormones and no chemical fertilizers or sprays.

Heartland takes checks or cash and there is a 15% delivery charge with a maximum of $15.00 on each order. No orders under $10.00. Email your order to Heartland Harvest Farm by Friday, April 17th, and include your phone number with your order. And enjoy your week - Saturday should be a good one for getting out to the Farmer's Market and the Earth Week Eco-Fair on the Downtown Mall. Cheers!

Charlottesville City Market!

On a dreary, drizzle-drenched day like today, when all I want to do is play the MobWars application on Facebook, watch the America's Next Top Model marathon, then curl up for a looooong nap, it helps to know that eventually, the skies *will* clear, the weather *will* warm, and Spring will spring.

An indication of this? The Charlottesville City Market begins this Saturday! Woot Woot! So get your hineys up bright and early and get down to the corner of Water and First streets in Charlottesville (just off the Downtown Mall). Bring your kids, your fuzzy fur-children, and your friends. You can find anything from potted herbs, veggies, and flowers (my faves) to yummy baked goods, to handcrafted jewelry, to brunch or lunch for yourself. Everything from organic meats to doggie treats. I dare you to go and *NOT* buy something.

Who's your favorite City Market vendor? Don't know the name of mine, but he sells GORGEOUS lavender plants the size of basketballs, and his stall is at the far end of the L-shaped market. He's scruffy and always wears a Pittsburgh Steelers sweatshirt. And I sure hope he's there Saturday because my yard is looking positively BARREN...
